GM VAT (Vehicle Anti-Theft) /PassKey System Keys

Introduced first by GM 1986, the VAT system was introduced by General Motors to prevent theft of certain models (see list below). After GM introduced the VAT, theft of vehicles outfitted with this system was greatly reduced. The VAT system protects the vehicle by reading one of the 15 resistors values, otherwise the vehicle cannot be started. Use the wrong value and the car will be in a no-crank situation for approximately 10 minutes.

Following is a list of GM vehicles equipped with VATS (Does not refer to all years):

BUICK Regal, LeSabre, Park Avenue, Roadmaster, Riviera

CADILLAC Fleetwood, Seville/STS/DeVille

CHEVROLET  Monte Carlo, Lumina, Camaro, Corvette (C4)

OLDSMOBILE  Cutlass Supreme, 88/LSS/98/Regency, Custom Cruiser Wagon

PONTIAC  Grand Prix, Bonneville, Firebird/Trans Am/Firehawk

Some VAT keys work may require a non-refundable deposit ($18-$39 depending on the model). This amount will be deducted from your total amount due.
